After a long time I went back to concert photo pit. The reason was simple – Deep Purple was in my hometown.
The guys are on their The Long Goodbye Tour promoting their new album Infinite and they were kind enough to visit Zagreb (Croatia) yesterday.
I was watching some recent videos of their concerts on YouTube and I was worried about how the tour is gonna look. I mean, they are not so young anymore, and Ian Gillan is obviously very tired but still, they are institution of hard rock and they decided to go around the world and I’m OK with it. Rock and roll till you die!
The lights went off, the guy in a suit and funny sunglasses stepped forward, strong vibrations started shaking everything around the stage, the only light was top on the guy who was reciting following text:
Descending the cold steps of the institution for the politically insane
Never to be seen again
Saying farewell to daylight
From henceforth I shall rot in a stinking bed of wet straw
The guy was Ian Gillan in company of Steve Morse, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Don Airey and the text was opening for the Time for Bedlam from their new album. The show started!
